| Vista: Whose ‘reality’ do you believe? |
| The same day that Forrester Research is touting yet another of a growing number of studies claiming Vista is failing to gain traction in the enterprise, Microsoft is claiming just the opposite.
In a presentation at Microsoft’s annual Financial Analyst Meeting in Redmond on July 24, company officials outlined their bullish projections and claims for Windows Vista. But it wasn’t the facts and figures that garnered the most attention from attendees here; instead, it was a video of a focus group of Vista skeptics who changed their originally negative opinions of Microsoft’s latest Windows release once they had a chance to see it demonstrated. |

| Microsoft finalizes Windows XP for OLPC laptops |
| Microsoft has internally released to manufacturing the version of Windows XP that it has tweaked to run on the One Laptop Per Child XO computer.
As James Utzschneider, General Manager of Marketing and Communications for the Unlimited Potential Group, announced on his blog on July 24:
“Windows on the XO looks like it is on track for availability in these types of national educational PC deals in September. We still have no plans to make Windows available for individuals who bought an XO in the Give 1 Get 1 program though.”

| Windows unit head Bill Veghte said on Thursday that Windows 7 development remains on track.
The company has officially said it would ship by January 2010, but top executives have also said from time to time that it would be done by the end of 2009. |
